20 Encouraging Bible Verses for Women with Chronic Illness In Need of Hope

Here is a little encouragement for the difficult moments.  I just had a few this past week myself.

Reaffirming God’s love for us when we are at our weakest allows grace to fill our souls and peace unto our bodies by renewing the mind.

While I wait for His deliverance in this life or the next, resting on the wings of eagles is where I find hope and strength.  All translations or NLT unless otherwise noted.

  1. “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31
  2. “And He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.  Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.”  2 Corinthians 12:9-10 {NASB}
  3. “But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.”  Romans 8:6b
  4. “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.  And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”  Romans 5:3-5
  5. “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.   Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.  I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!” Lamentations 3:22-24
  6. “Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.”  Psalm 16:1
  7. “I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night, my heart instructs me.  I know the Lord is always with me.  I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”  Psalm 16:7-8
  8. “Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways.  By your mighty power, you rescue those who seek refuge from their enemies.  Guard me as you would guard your own eyes.  Hide me in the shadow of your wings.”  Psalm 17:7-8
  9. “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”  Psalm 16:11
  10. “You have given me your shield of victory.  Your right hand supports me; your help has made me great.”  Psalm 18:35
  11. “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”  Psalm 19:4
  12. “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”  Psalm 91:1
  13. “This I declare about the Lord:  He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”  Psalm 91:2
  14. “He will cover you with his feathers.  He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection.”  Psalm 91:4
  15. “The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.”  Psalm 91:14
  16. “When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them.” Psalm 91:15
  17. “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”  Psalm 23:6
  18. “And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.  And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”  Romans 8:27-28
  19.  “No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”  Romans 8:37
  20. “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”  Romans 13:14 {ESV}
