10 Little Words That Just Might Change You Forever!

Enough.  I think most of us unknowingly strive towards a quiet, unspoken standard.  Our imperfect souls know the truth.  We are flawed; we are raw.  Yet, there is this unique beauty within, yearning to break free.  Whether the context of this inner hope applies to matters of everyday life or pursuing creative bliss, unlocking courage and peace is the key.

Think of the whispers that play over and over in our mind daily.  Even as Christians, we can fall right into the trap of comparison and inadequacy.  This isn’t a matter of coveting our neighbors.  As artists, and we all are artists in some way, we are vulnerable with the complexity of our secret dreams.  When we place these feelings of lacking at His feet, they begin to diminish.  Soon, words such as courage, dream, bravery, and joy begin to fill our hearts.
Jesus reveals His love for us daily…that is the whisper we need to listen hard for.

What is love?  Isn’t it acceptance and encouragement, a continual giving of self?  Jesus is the very definition of love.  Love is also built on trust.  Jesus has loved and held me in moments where I couldn’t love or hold myself. Through this sacred relationship, I’ve also discovered paths of amazing purpose and passion; some successful, some a learning curve.  Isn’t that okay though?  Aren’t we always growing as we continue to place our lives into His hands?   It is through His love we discover we truly are enough

Below are the ten little words that just may change who you are in Christ, forever.  The first five are a statement of conviction.  The last five are a call to action.
Share with me in the wonder and beauty of simply being enough.

“I Really Am Good Enough!”  Embrace, Envision, Enable, Empower, Enjoy!

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”  Psalm 139:14

Embrace

Embrace grace and humbly accept who and where you are right now, at this point in life.  Whether you’re perfectly content or searching for direction, allow room for Christ’s Grace to fill the openings in your soul, daily.

But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.
Ephesians  4:7

Envision

Think about where you would like to go from this moment, in any area of life.
What is the life you would really like to live, if only you could?
Pray about these hopes, dreams, and ambitions.
Visualize where you would like to be in 30 days.
What about 60 or 90 days?  Dare we dream six months out or a year from now?  Keep a beautiful record of God working in your life by journaling your hopes, dreams, and goals.

Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.”
Proverbs 16:3

“Then the LORD answered me and said, “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run.  For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.”   Habakkuk 2:2-3

Enable

Success is achieved through choices.  Enable yourself even the smallest of victories through the choices and decisions made.

Walk today – Just 10 minutes.
Write one sentence to describe that book you’ve always wanted to write.
Choose to have an amazing, healthy breakfast, then lunch, then dinner.
Love your spouse through the loving eyes of Jesus.
Challenge yourself in discovering a new skill.  Now simply try.

If you have an off day, recommit yourself to embracing and then envision once again.  Sometimes we need to alter the plan, but that is Christ revealing His fingerprint on our life.  It is for this reason, we need a Shepherd.

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”Proverbs 3:6

Empower

Strength comes in truth and unity.  Allow yourself time in faith to simply breathe in the beauty of God’s love through inspiration and His word.

”The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”  Job 33:3

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;” 2 Timothy 3:16

Take the time to notice and empower others through encouragement.  Sharing goodness, love, and truth never returns void.  In fact, I’m willing to guess that God will bless beyond measure what we possibly could think or ask by empowering ourselves and others with Truth.

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matthew 18:20

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”  Ephesians 3:20

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:11

Enjoy

All of life is a journey.  We must decide if we will focus on the joys and the blessing of life or the hardships, inadequacies, and disappointments.  Which of these leads to renewal, growth, contentment, happiness… to Christ?

“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.…”  James 1:2-4

“And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!” Nehemiah 8:10

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”  Psalm 28:7

Now, in the quiet moments be sure to listen for the whispers of grace.   When in doubt simply remind yourself of these ten little words…“I really am enough in Christ who loves me.”

  • I really enjoyed this post, and it has breathed some needed encouragement into my day. The scripture passages are beautifully placed and fortifying.

The last one, “Enjoy”, highlighted an attitude shift we all need now and again. Focusing on inadequacies will not bring joy, certainly not content or gratitude, either.

For my part I am going to try and say as often as I can in thankfulness, “Bring on the joy!”

    • Amen!! I LOVE that – “Bring on the Joy!” Just yesterday, I needed to be reminded not to focus on my perceived inadequacies and to remember the joy of the journey.

  • Beautiful and encouraging post! Thank you for writing this!

    • I’m glad you found it encouraging! You are most welcome. 🙂

  • Your photos relaxed me. I have been hearing the call to quiet my life for some time. It’s the only way to fully hear what God has for us. Thank you for the reminder!
